The 3rd board of IALA (September 2018-2024) consists of three committee members: President (Guillermo Reher), Treasurer (Daniel Knitter), and Secretary (Esperanza Martín Hernández).
President: Guillermo Reher
Guillermo Reher (1977) studied History at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), and then obtained his PhD in Ancient History at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). His research interests have always focused on landscape archaeology, whether it was as a framework for displays of ethnic identity, environmental change or territorial articulation. His recent research has dealt with the relation between cultural heritage and the livelihood of local communities in the present day, including socioeconomic impact, sustainable development and public participation. He has experience working within the Social Structure and Territory-Landscape Archaeology research group in the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), including fieldwork, management and outreach. He also has abundant experience teaching at the University level in Spain, both in the European System as well as American Programs. He currently works in the education department of Comillas Pontifical University. He has been a member since the foundation of IALA, where he attended seminal meetings. He also has a track record of attending LAC: 2010, 2016, 2018 and 2020+1, the last one of which he co-organized.

Treasurer: Michele Abballe
Michele Abballe (1992) studied Cultural Heritage and Archaeology at the University of Bologna (IT), then moved to the University of Ghent (BE) for his PhD in Archaeology. He is a landscape archaeologist specialising in floodplain geoarchaeology and digital archaeology, combining different disciplines such as historical geography, geomorphology, geology and remote sensing. He is currently a research fellow at the Institute of Sciences of the Atmosphere and Climate of the National Research Council (ISAC-CNR) in Rome (IT), where he works on the reconstruction of the archaeological fluvial landscapes of the Po and Tiber rivers in Italy. He is the PI of GEOARCHAMMI project supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and recipient of several grants from FWO and Academia Belgica to conduct research in Italy, where he is a member of various landscape archaeology projects.michele.abballe@gmail.com
